Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday weekend in whatever manner you choose. Whoever is firing up the grill today, holla at your boy. Long as you don’t serve me any swine and cook my steak medium. Lol.
Anyway, this Labor Day weekend was a special one for me as it relates to fatherhood. Anyone that is a parent knows that this parenting thing is not an easy road. It can be very challenging and frustrating, but it can also be one of the most rewarding experiences as well. Being a father is especially difficult when you’re not in the home with your child.
As a single father, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in this journey, and I’m sure I’ll have more. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t control everything, no matter how much you desire to. There are just some things that are out of your control, and you have to learn to accept that. As men, we have a tendency to want to control and fix everything. That’s just the natural instinct of men as providers and protectors. When we cannot do that, life can become very frustrating and discouraging. We have to learn to focus on what we can control and let the rest work itself out. Focus on pouring everything you can into your children, and trust that they’ll take that energy and be great humans as they grow up.
I’m learning more and more about myself every day as I seek to evolve and become a better person. Some of these lessons I’ve actually learned from my child. Never think that you know all there is to know. Continue to seek more wisdom and understanding every day that you live. “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” ― Rumi
See you next time,
