Give Love at Christmas

The holiday season can be the best time of year for most people. It’s a time to spend with family and friends and share gifts with each other. It’s also a time to look back over the year to reflect and prepare for the New Year. In the words of one famous holiday song, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” There’s always another side to every story though, and there are some that truly struggle through this time of year. The holidays can be a rough time for those that are dealing with a loss of a loved one, estranged family members, or even financial woes. The holiday blues are real and can impact anybody.

The holidays can become a stressful time for those that feel the need to spend money they don’t have to buy gifts for those that don’t need them. I was out running errands this week, and watched people running in and out of malls spending money left and right. I almost grew a little cynical as I watched all the hustle and bustle all around me. Then something happened that snapped me out of it and reminded me where our focus should really be. I was getting some gas when this young lady approached me needing some help. My first instinct was to wave her off and tell her I don’t have anything, but I looked and listened instead. The young woman said she didn’t want any money but simply needed some gas for her truck. I looked around and then followed her over to the next lane to her truck. As I walked by the truck, I noticed she had three small children in the truck. These three babies looked at me with giant smiles and waved happily at me. Seeing those happy babies just melted my heart. I paid for the young woman’s gas and went about my way, but the experience changed my whole attitude. It made me think of how this time of year is about giving and spreading peace and love, especially to those in need.

I was also thinking about the situation with Stephen “Twitch” Boss. As I mentioned earlier, the holiday blues are real and can have significant impacts on people. I don’t know if Twitch was dealing with holiday blues or not, but clearly, the young man was struggling with something. It just so happens, that we’re in the holiday season when the tragic event took place. As I look at his TikTok videos and his on-air persona, to the naked eye he looked so full of life and happy. On the outside looking in, we never really know what is going on with someone. The reports are that even his close personal family members didn’t know what he was dealing with. This is why it’s so important to check in on your loved ones, especially during this time of year. A simple call or text may not seem like much to you, but it could mean the world to someone else.

With all that said, I’d like to remind everyone to take the time out to remember what this season is all about. Reach out and let someone know you’re thinking of them, let them know you love them and let them know you’re here for them. Give love and spread as much joy as you can this season.

As always,

Kings Can Move On y’all.
